The Amsterdam Public Library, Europe's largest library, opened in 2007 on the newly-restructured Oosterdokseiland, near the city's Central Station. Designed by architect Jo Coenen & Co, the 28 000m² glass-and-stone structure includes seven collection floors and provides a streamlined storage area for books, a radio station, a readers' cafe and a roof-top restaurant overlooking the city.
